A box containing a number of fabrics, two piles of five fabrics:
- cotton
- felt
- denim
- jute
- and corduroy
AIMS:
DIRECT:
refinement of the tactile sense
INDIRECT: - awareness of the different materials
- building intelligence
- exploring the environment
- ask the child to go and wash their hands
- go and fetch the box with the child from the shelf
- sit down at a table with them
- open the box, place the lid under the box
- take the first fabric from a pile, touch it with both hands, look at the child and then ask them to touch it in turn. Ask them: “Do you know the name of this fabric?” then place the fabric on the table. Do the same with all the fabrics
- once the pile is finished, take the first fabric from the other pile, touch it and hand it to the child. Ask them to look for the matching fabric. Once they have found it, lay both of them on top of each other on the table
- when the matching is done, ask the child to close their eyes. Give them a fabric, let them touch it, then give them another one and ask if it is the same. If not, give them another one; proceed in this way with all the fabrics.
1. Another time, ask the child to close their eyes, give them two fabrics, one in each hand. Once they have touched them, ask them to place them on the table. Then give them two other fabrics, one identical to one of the first two and one different; ask the child to do the matching. Proceed in the same way until all the pairs are made
NOTES:
