Montessori Geometric Solid Bases with Box: Sensory Exploration and Preparation for Geometry

It also prepares the child for varied fields such as geometry, the calculation of areas and volumes, art, drawing, perspective, and architecture.

Material Description:
- go with the child to the shelf
- take the empty basket and choose three contrasting solids: the cube, the cone, and the sphere
- sit down at a table with the child
- pick up the sphere and hold it between the palms of both hands, rolling it several times, then offer it to the child. Once the child has handled it in turn, place it on the table
- take the cube, run your hands over each of its faces several times, then hand it to the child. Place the cube on the table
- take the cone and roll it between your palms, touching the base as well as the tip. Hand it to the child, then once they have placed it on the table, pick up the sphere again
- now offer the child a three-period lesson.
