LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

A SENSORIAL MATCHING GAME that helps develop various aspects
of children's psychology:
- The sense of touch: tactile discrimination through the recognition of
textures.
- Acquiring basic vocabulary relating to the textures of objects.
- Tactile memory.
HOW TO PLAY AND TIPS FOR USE:
- The 16 TOUCH CARDS (8 types of textures in pairs) are used to recognise and
discriminate the different textures.
- The 16 IMAGE CARDS are used to match the touch cards with real objects that
have that same texture.
- To make matching the touch cards and image cards easier, there is a SELF-CORRECTION
SYSTEM ON THE BACK of the cards:
• The back of the image cards shows the numbering from 1 to 8 according to the degree
of texture (there are two objects for each texture).
• The texture cards do not show the numbering, but stickers
from 1 to 8 are provided to stick on the back of these cards. The numbers on these
cards must match the images that represent the same texture.
EN
- The OPAQUE MASKS are used to carry out texture-memorising activities
with the TOUCH CARDS.
- There are 2 TOUCH CARDS for each texture and 2 OPAQUE MASKS, for 2
participants at the same time.
ACTIVITIES:
WITH THE TOUCH CARDS: recognition and discrimination of textures.
- The child must choose, from all the cards spread out in front of them, one of them and
touch it with their fingertips to describe the texture: rough
or smooth, warm or cold, hard or soft, etc.
WITH THE TOUCH CARDS AND THE IMAGE CARDS: matching textures with
objects.
- One player: with the 8 touch cards and the 16 image cards on the table, the child must
choose one of the touch cards and select two image cards representing
objects with the same texture, matching them with the touch card (one next to
the other). When all the cards are matched, look at the back of them to
make sure the numbering of the three cards agrees.
- Two players: separate the 16 touch cards into two groups of 8 cards (one
card of each texture), and repeat the operation for the image cards. Share out the
8 touch cards and the 8 image cards for each child. Match each touch card
to its corresponding image card (match each one and check
the back to see whether the match is correct).
WITH THE OPAQUE MASKS AND THE TOUCH CARDS: memorising textures.
- With the touch cards on the table, the child must put on the opaque mask and touch
the cards one by one, with their fingertips, to "guess" which texture it is.
- Separate the 16 touch cards into two groups of 8 cards and ask the child
wearing the mask to match them in pairs.
