Sandpaper Numbers in French with box

MATERIAL DESCRIPTION:

• 10 green tablets with French sandpaper numerals from 0 to 9 glued on. French numerals
• Dimensions: 16 cm long and 12 cm wide

PRESENTATION:

1. invite the child to discover the numerals
2. go to the shelf: take the tray with the bowl of warm water, having taken care to warm the water in advance
3. place the bowl on a table and fetch the sandpaper numerals with the child
4. sit down at the table
5. dip your fingers in the water and invite the child to do the same
6. ask the child their age and take out the tablet matching the number they give
7. touch the numeral and say 4, “this is 4”
8. have the child touch it, inviting them to say 4
9. ask whether they have a little sister or brother and ask their age
10. take out the numeral the child indicates, touch it and say it aloud
11. take out a third tablet and proceed in the same way
12. touch the three numerals again and say them
13. mix them up and continue the three-period lesson by asking the child to show us the numeral, then by pointing to a numeral and asking: “what is this?”
14. on a tray containing sand, invite the child to trace the numerals
15. return the material to the shelf
